First Swimming Lessons

Yesterday Coop had his first day of swimming lessons. He was so excited, and he ended up being the only one in his class! His teacher Natasha is great, but she asked if he always bumps himself and falls down. I told her that was completely normal for him, he is always hurting himself one way or another.

Today I had my 28 week appointment! I am happy to be on the downward part of this pregnancy! I had to drink the icky glucose drink-wish we luck that I pass and I don't have to do the 3 hour one.

Busy Weekend

This weekend I attended Youth Conference with our ward in San Antonio. We left Friday at 8 a.m. and were home around 8 p.m. Saturday. It was a good conference and I think that the youth had a good time. I am amazed at the strengh that our youth have, they are really the most awesome group of kids I have met. I really feel blessed to serve them, and get to know them. I have to thank Adam Jarnagin for taking care of my Cooper until Travis was able to get back from New Mexico (I was really stressed out about Travis not being home), they are such great people. Overall I did well being pregnant and all. My feet are pretty swollen, but hopefully in a couple days that will go down a little. I did get to sleep in a bed Friday night, I am thankful for those tender mercies.

Cooper got very spoiled by daddy: dinner out everyday, a toy, and my favorite (note the sarcasm) a harmonica. Cooper just loves that harmonica. They also went swimming, and ate lots of cookies. I forgot to take any pictures of YC.

Survived

Of course we survived the storm last week, Corpus wasn't bad at all. It was windy and rainy and it seemed like maybe we were in more threat of a tornado than anything else. Cooper and I made cookies and watched movies and played with trains. Roxie spent most of her time hiding in my closet, she hates storms. Travis spent his time in New Mexico kid free playing golf, going to the mall, a hike and out to eat. I am not jealous at all, really:)

"A big storm is coming.."

This is what Cooper keeps repeating... and it is true Dolly is on her way. It doesn't look like Dolly is going to directly hit Corpus Christi, but we should still be getting some yucky weather. I took Travis to work today because he is going to fly some planes out to New Mexico, and Cooper and I are ready to go to San Marcos in case Dolly decides to turn more our direction. We are ready I think. Our house is boarded up and it feel like a cave in here. This is good practice I suppose for rest of Hurricane season. I don't think I like this part of living on the coast. Yuck!

Gum Drop Pillow

Here it is my first Amy Butler project- maybe soon I will be ready for that Nappy Bag I want to make.

Sewing Teaser

I have {almost completed} an Amy Butler gumdrop pillow. My friend Grace said it was easy and she was finished in 15 minutes. She probably didn't realize I am a sewing moron. But it just has to be filled and handsewn and then you will all get to see my not so perfect creation. Thanks Grace for lending me the pattern.

Freezer Jam

I know there really shouldn't be a post for something as simple as freezer jam, but I feel so domesticated I really couldn't help myself. This morning I made some strawberry freezer jam, and I think it seems yummy enough.

Neither here or there

The Greatest Show on Earth

Cooper's favorite part! The horses
Cooper is dancing in the above picture
Friday night we went to the circus, I think it was all of our first time. I felt like a little kid again, I yelled and screamed and oohed and aahhed as much as anyone else. We ate popcorn and cotten candy and Cooper got some glow stick thing.

Cooper was spellbound by everything that was going on. If you ask him what his favorite part was it was the horses (not much of a surprise). We went with the Jarnagins and Cooper Jarnagin got picked by Bello the clown to participate in an act with him. It was awesome, out of the whole arena to get chosen. We had so much fun. I had been wanting to go since I read, Water for Elephants. One side note, I shouldn't have researched Circus' this morning and some of the cruelty to animals that can happen. It put a little damper on my fun evening the night before.

Our Fabulous Fourth

We had a very Fabulous Fourth, we are grateful to have shared it with so many friends. When you don't live close to family, having great friends makes all the difference. We were so lucky to have Robin, Brian and Devyn visiting from Del Rio. We all met up in Alaska where Robin and I went to hair school together. We had so much fun spending the whole weekend together, it seems empty now that they are gone. Cooper and Devyn were like brothers, playing and fighting it was fun to have a friend. We saw fireworks, ate, went to the movies, and ate some more. It was Fabulous!

Happy 4th of July

Happy 4th of July everyone, sometimes I forget the real reason for this holiday. I just wanted to take a moment to remember the reason we celebrate. I am grateful for the ability to choose how I want to live; and I want to say thank you to all of those sacrificed and all those who are sacrificing everyday for all of us. We live in a great nation, not perfect or without its problems but founded with ideals that I think are worth fighting for. Thank you Travis, I am so proud of you and appreciate what you are doing for our country and our family. I love you!

Summer Reading- need more books

So, I finished the books I bought for my summer reading, and I still have a few months left. Any suggestions anyone?

I had purchased 5 books from Amazon thinking I wouldn't have time to read more than that, but I forgot that I could READ instead of CLEAN, and well that just changed everything. All that time I had wasted cleaning and keeping a straight home I just could have been reading. Silly Taryn.

latest reads:

People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks (lindsey I think you would like this one, I couldn't stop reading until this one was finished)

So Brave, Young, and Handsome by Leif Enger (this is his second book, It took me a bit to get into it, but once I did I couldn't put it down)
