Thanksgiving in Dallas

We had a fantastic Thanksgiving! We hope all of you did as well. We spent it in Dallas with my Uncle Frank and Aunt Janet's family. It was the first married Thanksgiving we have ever had with family. It was a little bit of a drive (about 7 hours), but well worth it. The food was yummy. I overheard many of Aunt Janet's famouse apple pie tips, which I will try to incoporate next time I make apple pie. We played Settlers and ate and ate. Heather and I went for a run on Friday, but I still gained like 4 lbs. Before we left we went to this ritzy hotel called the (get ready) Gaylord. Strange name, but very cool hotel. In the middle of the hotel was a huge atrium that was made to represent different parts of Texas. There was a mini river walk and alamo, and mission district. I was pretty impressed. For Christmas they had set up lots of trains that ran all through everything. Cooper was pretty excited about the whole ordeal. Parking was expensive (10 bucks), but if you bought something you could get a validation. We were trying to get cookies, (cooper kept yelling for a cookie). It was a huge ordeal, but we all got a cookie and a valadation. Thanks goodness for cookies!

King Ranch Hand Breakfast

Saturday we went to the annual King Ranch Hand Breakfast. We had a lot of fun. I think that this will become a new South Texas tradition for us, as we live here. They had a great breakfast and music, cow roping, and different demonstrations going on. Cooper loved watching the horses and cows. It was a fun laybacked atmosphere, it was also cool to see the ranch. I believe at one time it was the largest working cattle ranch in the world. It was like a little city, they had homes, and a school.

Maladies

This has been an interesting few weeks. We have been plagued with different maladies. We took Cooper to the ER yesterday because his fever was 105, of course he just has the flu. I was pretty scared though and I am glad it is nothing worse. He is doing better today, and I am thankful for that. I am so grateful for the Lord's blessing. I know that it may be unpleasent to look at the gross pictures of my broken toe, and my bug bitten leg. It makes me squeemish too.

The San Antonio Zoo

Friday we drove up to San Anton (this is apparently what Travis said the control tower calls San Antonio to save time) and stayed on the riverwalk. We had dinner at the Rainforest Cafe, which I see now was not that great of an idea. He was way to distracted with the animals to concentrate on eating dinner. Saturday we got up and went to the zoo. Cooper LOVED it! He is such an animal perosn. He made all the right noises and actions for each of the animals. They had an area were you could feed some goats and he kept tryting to hug them like they were Roxie. He had such a great time.

Who doesn't love Halloween?

Happy Halloween everyone! We had lots of fun this year, it was Cooper's first "real" Halloween. He picked it up pretty fast. He couldn't understand why we couldn't go into each person's home. He tried to say "trick-or-treat" and he really wanted to see what each person put in his bucket. We went to our friends the Jaragins and had soups and chili, treats and apple cider. It seemed very fallish, even if it was still warm enough to wear shorts.
